Introduction to 'Blogmas'

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to talk to you all about December's theme that I've been planning for the past few months. Enter Blogmas, the theme inspired by YouTube's Vlogmas, where YouTubers chronicle their daily lives and create videos everyday for the month of December. I'm not a YouTuber, so I decided to do a similar idea and write Christmas and holiday posts everyday for the whole month! I will be doing decorations, recipes, Christmas makeup and outfit ideas, and so much more! I'm really excited to be posting everyday and I really hope that you guys like this idea! Stay tuned for tomorrow's post, which will be the first post of Blogmas!

November Favorites!

Can this year go by any quicker? It feels like just yesterday that 2013 just began! I've got a great batch of products this month that I'm loving including some old favorites and some new ones. Let's jump right in!

Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre in 57 Reverie

This Chanel loose Powder is absolutely stunning on the cheekbones and in the corner of the eye as a highlight. The glitter particles are so finely milled that it makes the highlight subtle and wearable even in the harsh light of day! Unfortunately, the shade was last year's limited edition shade from the brand's Christmas collection, but I've loved it so much that I couldn't bear to leave it out of my monthly favorites!

NYC Color Wheel in Rose Glow

This blush has constantly been on my cheeks for the whole month! It has the perfect amount of bronzer and color to it, which makes it look extremely natural. Paired with a berry lipstick or balm and a bit of mascara, you've got your whole Fall look sorted.

Maybelline Fit Me Stick Foundation in 220 Natural Beige

For an oily skinned girl like me, this foundation is a dream. It lasts absolutely all day long with only a bit of fading. The oil control in this stick is amazing as it literally keeps me "Shine-free". For $7.99, it's a bargain.

Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate Eye Palette and Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze

Even though I talked about these eye products last month, I just couldn't leave it out of this month's favorites. I've been using the Maybelline cream shadow underneath the Bobbi eyeshadows every single day throughout November and my goodness, they are a gorgeous pair. Since the Color Tattoo does not budge, it makes for a great every day color by itself as well.

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Mightiest Maraschino

As a lover of all red lip products, this extremely pigmented balm is my absolute favorite. It lasts really long and it fades into a gorgeous stain after eating and/or drinking. It's blue toned, which makes teeth look whiter, and it's priced at an affordable $16!

Old Navy Hair Ties

I've become a huge fan of ponytails, so these hair ties are fantastic! They don't leave a dent in my hair and the colors are really chic.

Typo Makeup Bag

Despite the profanity, I think this makeup bag is great! It's from an Australian stationary brand called Typo, which sells all kinds of cute notebooks, clocks, pens, etc. The bag is a wonderful size that fits all of my makeup that I take to school.

What are some of your favorites from this past month? Stay tuned next month for my favorites from 2013!

The Thanksgiving Spiel

Before I start all of the Christmas and Winter madness posts here on the blog, I decided to take a quick break a focus on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving to me can often be overlooked and takes a backseat to all of the Christmas parties and cheer. Today I wanted to dedicate a post to the glory of the holiday and share some of the things that I am thankful for.

  1. Family (Mom, Dad, Megan, grandparents, aunties, uncles, Moose, and Samson)
  2. Friends
  3. The opportunities I've had to travel
  4. A roof over my head and food in my stomach every day
  5. A personal blog with amazing readers
  6. Music and all of my instruments

Thank you so much to all of you who have consistently read my blog from the beginning. I am so extremely grateful for each and every one of you! What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

I have quite an extravagant wish list this year, but I always love putting them together and seeing what my family members or friends' lists are filled with as well. Here are some of the I need that so bad! products on my wishlist!

The Old Navy Favorites

There are certain brands that I feel are constantly overlooked because of its store design or chain-store reputation. One brand in particular is Old Navy. The chain store is chock full of lovely basics including tees, sweaters, and the all too popular Rockstar denim, which the brand houses in many different colors and patterns. Some of my favorite pieces from ON are their sweaters. The fabrics are very soft and durable, which makes spending $30 on them worth it! As Autumn and Winter are approaching, here are some of my favorites from the brand as of this month. When you find 4 of the same cardigans in different colors in your hands, think of me!

Which Palette?

In the makeup world, there are so many different products to choose from. Some of them are affordable, some not so purse-friendly. My favorite items to chuck out the cash for are foundations and palettes. I believe that a proper base is the most important part of the makeup routine, and palettes are just so pleasing to have on hand! They come in all sorts of ranges, from eyes, to lips, to cheeks, or the whole face! This post is chock full of gorgeous shadows and shades, so let's just hop in!

The Blogger Favorite: Stila In the Light Eyeshadow Palette. One of my favorites, this is a well hyped-up palette and for good reason! The shadows are buttery soft and blend like a dream! The shade range is gorgeous and the ratio of mattes and shimmers is just right.

The Affordable Option: Sephora Color Play 5 in 1 Eye and Cheek Palette. The shadows from this palette are pretty much a cheaper dupe for the Stila palette mentioned above. The shimmery champagne color in the bottom of the palette is the exact same shade and formulation as Stila's Kitten shadow, which is one of my favorites! The palette has a great mixture of shimmery golds and bronzes. If you're on a tighter budget, this is the one for you priced only at $25, it comes with 4 other palettes in a lovely set from Sephora!

The Summery Mix: Benefit Go Tropi Coral Palette. For fans of Benefit's Coralista blush and lip gloss, this palette is perfect. It includes some of the brand's best selling options: Cha Cha Tint, High Beam, and Coralista mini blush and lip gloss. It's great for those who just want to test out some of Benefit's products, as they are the perfect size for travel and testing.

The Smoky Garb: Benefit World Famous Neutrals Palette. Another winning Benefit palette (with a full review here!), this one comes with lovely purple toned hues and two creaseless cream shadows. The shades are absolutely stunning and, paired with the cream shadows as a base, last all day long!

The All Time Favorite: Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate Eye Palette. I can't rave enough about this palette. I've talked about it so much, yet I just keep complimenting the shades and the texture of the amazing shadows! It's perfect for neutral loving gals and for the smoky eye lovers. This is a limited edition palette, so I highly recommend that anyone who has not tried this out, get their hands on it immediately!

The Bronze Shadow Edit

Let me first start off by saying that I do not like brown. Something about the color makes me cringe, not matter what the shade. Ironically, the only shade of shadow I usually wear is brown! These three shadows are the perfect shade of bronzey-brown that looks perfect against my light brown eyes. They also work great as one wash shades. A little bit on the lid, blended into the crease and a touch of black mascara, and you've got your whole simple eye makeup sorted.

The top left shadow is Bark by elf, a gorgeous powder shadow with the smoothest shimmer running throughout. For $2.99, this has to be one of my top 'beauty under $5' that I've ever bought.

My newest favorite is the top right: L'oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in the color Bronzed Taupe. One of Lily and Anna's favorite shadows, this is buttery soft and blends like a dream. It looks amazing with a red lip!

The last of the bunch is Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, a cream formula that is amazing on lazy eyeshadow days. One swipe of this on the lid blends out beautifully and lasts all day for a bit of color.

The New Exfoliator

I'm a big skincare junkie, so I'm always on the lookout for great products without breaking my bank! This exfoliator is an Allure Magazine 'Best Exfoliator' winner for the past 9 years. It smells fresh with a hint of apricot, which is lovely on the skin. The finely milled grains are the perfect size for exfoliating the skin without being harsh, leaving the face fresh and polished. I bought the St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub at Target for $3.99, which is a total beauty bargain! I highly recommend this product for all skin types and textures looking for a great daily exfoliator.

Puppy Love!

Sometimes dogs are the only things that can be there and understand. They are not only man's best friend, but part of the family. Here are some photos of my dog Samson, just because!

The November Beauty Bundle

With colder nights and chunky knits making their appearances, it's obvious that we are in the middle of fall. This month's 'Beauty Bundle' is a lovely mixture of drugstore and higher end products that are perfect for the month of November.

L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hr Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe: This eyeshadow demands attention when worn as a one-swipe type of glorious color. Its densely packed pigments are gorgeous and catch the light perfectly to make the lids look almost glossy. When paired with a couple coats of mascara and a light base, it's the perfect, sultry "I'm not trying" type of look.

NYC Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder in Rose Glow: A popular drugstore favorite, this powder highlights, bronzes, and adds a touch of color to the face. Soft and natural, this blush goes for the whole pinched, just out for a run cheek that's perfect for Autumn.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in Sand Beige: Disclaimer- this foundation is not for the faint of heart. Silk Creme is one of my top ten base products, but I can easily find it to be a bit heavy. When mixed with my Chanel Vitalumier Aqua Foundation, I find a perfect coverage base with a long lasting, subtle glow.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze: A favorite of every beauty blogger and her uncle, this stuff seriously does not budge after application. I can trust it to last up to 18 hours without a crease or a smudge. It looks gorgeous as one of those shadows that has a bit of a darker shadow when blended into the socket. Looking for a cream shadow that does double duty on the lid and in the crease? This one's your pick.

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Broadest Berry: The perfect plummy "This is my natural lip color" shade that looks perfect blended into the lips as a stain. The twist up crayon packaging is great for on the go and it lasts all day long.

Chloe Eau de Parfum: Although it's much more of a fresh, spring-y shade, I love this perfume for Autumn/Winter time. The light scent is great for layering with spicy or woodsy perfumes and colognes. The beautiful glass packaging also looks amazing on the dressing table.

Naked 3 Palette Teaser!

As a personal fan of Urban Decay, I'm very excited for the launch of the brand's Naked 3 Palette. Although I haven't tried their other two Naked palettes, I've heard only good reviews of the soft, smooth shadows. I'm a big fan of their 24/7 Glide On Eyeliners (even though I think Rimmel just nail it with their Scandaleyes Pencils)! Naked 3 is full of rose toned shadows in a rose gold tin container. Despite the fact that the release date is yet to be determined, you will definitely hear back from me when it is!

Glamour Girl: The Top 10 Things I Learned from Glamour Magazine

Despite the tacky cliche that is this post's title, I truly am a "Glamour Girl". Glamour magazine is all around my favorite fashion and beauty magazine out there. The mixture of high end and cheaper Forever 21-esque fashion is phenomenal and enjoyable on my (non) working girl budget. Here are the top 10 pieces of advice and help that I received from the magazine.

  1. Makeup is about enhancing your natural beauty, not masking it.
  2. Classic fashion is always in style.
  3. Every woman needs a chic, black handbag.
  4. Sunscreen is a must at any age to prevent wrinkles.
  5. You don't need to splurge on everything. A Revlon lipstick and a Rebecca Minkoff leather jacket go hand in hand.
  6. People should be commenting on your eyes or your hairstyle, not your foundation.
  7. Hard work and dedication can definitely get you your dream job.
  8. Skincare should be a top priority in any woman's beauty routine.
  9. A touch (JUST A TOUCH) of matte eyeshadow in the brows can pull a whole makeup look together.
  10. Conditioner goes on just the ends of the hair, not on the roots to condition and treat brittle ends.

What are some of your favorite pieces of beauty or lifestyle advice you possess?

The Autumnal Playlist

Although I listen to Indie music throughout the year, there's just something about Autumn that makes me want to lie in a bed of pillows and listen to Tom Odell and Kodaline all day long. For some reason, the fall stirs something somber and melancholy in my soul and my music definitely reflects that feeling. Here are some of my go-to picks for a slightly chilly, relaxing fall day at home. What are some of your favorite songs during Autumn?

If Only I by Jon McLaughlin

Big Bad World by Kodaline

Before the Sun by Shannon Curtis

All Comes Down by Kodaline

Train Song by Feist and Ben Gibbard

New York by Blind Pilot

The Perfect Bronze

After amazing reviews from Anna and Lily about the L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe, I finally decided to pick it up from my local Target. The shadow is supposed to have the comfort of a cream but the ease of a powder. The formulation is extremely soft and buttery, making it super easy to glide on the lids. It's packaged as a pressed pigment with a gray lid attached inside. The shade Bronzed Taupe is a cool bronze with silver shimmer running throughout. It looks amazing working alongside my Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate Eye Palette as the bronze shades look lovely together! Have any of you tried the Infallible eyeshadows? What are your thoughts?
