A Perfect Sacrifice

I've taken somewhat of a break from blogging recently, as you may have noticed with my lack of daily posts. I feel like writing everyday for the sake of a post isn't necessarily a good thing. I really do love my daily blog posts, but if they're not going to be the best they can be, then I won't write everyday. I've recently tried to re-organize my life and my priorities and I am definitely going to start blogging again.

As many of you know, yesterday was Good Friday. For myself and other Christians, Good Friday and Easter are the keystones to our faith in God. Jesus Christ gave up His life for the sins of humanity. He died a gruesome and traumatic death, just so that His children would love and follow Him. Think about it, would you ever die for someone? A loved one, maybe. But what about a prisoner? A murderer? Would you give up your life for them? It's so easy to ignore and forget about the truth of the cross. Yeah, yeah, we've all heard the stories about Jesus and we've all sung "Jesus Loves Me" in kindergarten, but when it comes to actually grasping the truth and the love of Jesus Christ, I think we've all fallen short. The truth of the matter is that God loved His children enough to send His only Son, Jesus, to die for the sins of humanity. Jesus was tortured and crucified on a cross, forced to suffocate until He died. Bill Lobbs said it best:

"Does God really love us? I say look to the crucified Jesus. Look to the old rugged cross. By every thorn that punctured His brow. By every mark of the back lacerating scourge. By every hair of his beard plucked from his cheeks by cruel fingers. By every bruise which heavy fists made upon His head. God said, "I love you!" By all the spit that landed on his face. By every drop of sinless blood that fell to the ground. By every breath of pain which Jesus drew upon the cross. By every beat of His loving heart. God said, I love you."

In case reading isn't the best way to understand God's sacrifice, then here's an illustration that I find is extremely powerful and true:

Yes, the story of Jesus is extremely powerful and His death was awful and devastating, but the story isn't over. He didn't die and remain dead. That's the difference between my Jesus and the rest of the religions in the world. He rose again. On Easter Sunday, Jesus was alive. He conquered death and set us free from the strongholds of Satan. We no longer are separated from God anymore. If we simply believe that Jesus is the Son of God and we accept Him into our hearts, we will go to Heaven with Him for the rest of eternity. I don't want to seem like I am preaching to all of you, but I just feel like this is a topic that is so important, that everyone needs to hear it. Don't think that Jesus is a religion, because He isn't. Jesus is the complete opposite of religion. He doesn't want you to only follow rules and be afraid of Him. He just wants you to love Him as He has always loved you.

Week Review + Instagramming ✌

Hello everyone, I'm so incredibly sorry for the lack of posts this past week. I've been bogged down with school and grades and all that jazz. Fingers crossed I didn't lose any readers! As you may have read before, I recently upgraded my crappy slider phone to an iPhone! Yay! Along with iPhones come many different social networks and new apps. As I've recently started my Twitter account (Nkakimoto), I've also added my Instagram (Nkakimoto)!

Book Review: Never The Bride

If you're a girl who can't seem to accept the single life, struggling to seek God through loneliness, or just a plain fanatic of love stories, then Never The Bride is the book for you. I'm not going to review this as a "first reaction" because this book has been my favorite book for around 3 years. NTB was written by Cheryl McKay and Rene Gutteridge. It tells the lonely story of Jessie Stone, a 30 something working a dead-end job and who has been a bridesmaid over 11 times. Jessie is a hopeless romantic, as many of us women tend to be. She has sadly been in love with her best friend Blake for as long as she can remember. Jessie's Obsessive Compulsion kicks in whenever she plans the traits that her future husband will have, or her perfect wedding. She can't seem to keep a relationship and when she tries speed dating, she knows that she has hit rock bottom. When Jessie is in her lowest point and she feels like her life can't get any worse, God meets with her. I'm not talking about just talking to God during church or prayer, but He actually shows up in the flesh (as a rather attractive man that even Jessie finds handsome) and asks Jessie to hand over her sacred purple pen, which she uses to record her dreams and hopes in her journal. Throughout the story, Jessie finds that trusting God is hard and it's painful, but in the end, He knows us better than we know ourselves. I'm not going to spoil the ending, but I just want to share how much this book has touched my life. As a mini-Jessie myself, I know the pains of feeling like God doesn't understand my hopes and desires. The book really reminded me how much God just wants me to love Him first, before any other man. He truly is the lover of my soul, just as He is Jessie's. The book reminded me of a verse in Song of Solomon that shows me how much God knows me and loves me.

"You are altogether beautiful, my darling, beautiful in every way." -Song of Solomon 4:7

When we truly trust that God knows the desires of our hearts, only then will we find peace in our circumstances. Never The Bride is a love story between Jessie and her Maker and it gives the rest of us ladies a reminder that before we can have our love story, we need to truly love God first.

My Skincare Routine

Hi guys! I'm here today with my current favorite Skincare Routine. I will include product links and descriptions! I hope you enjoy!

Clarisonic Mia 2

This little device is arguably the most important part of my skincare routine. Without it, I wouldn't be cleansing my skin completely and thoroughly. It's pretty expensive, but it's definitely worth the money. You can buy it at Sephora or here. My Clarisonic is (Baylor) green!

Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
I included this face wash in my February Favorites. It's an amazing cleanser and it totally cleans my skin. I use this twice; the first time with my hands to remove my makeup and the second time with my Clarisonic to deep clean my skin. It can be bought here.

Soap & Glory Greatest Scrub of All Exfoliator
Soap and Glory is an amazing brand with incredible products for the money. This exfoliator has pretty decent sized beads to scrub my face. It's very good as microdermabrasion and it really cleans my skin. After I use this, my skin is noticeably softer and smoother. It can be bought here.

Sei Bella Clarifying Toner

Sei Bella is a company from Melaleuca. I just bought this toner from the company online and it's made for Combination/Oily Skin. The toner is supposed to suck up the oil in your pores and leave you with a fresh and non-greasy complexion. It can be bought here.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream
This moisturizer is to me, the best moisturizer for oily skin. I've used other moisturizers that leave my skin greasy and give me makeup meltdown. Unlike those other terrors, this moisturizer is lightweight and has SPF 15 which is perfect for the daytime. It can be bought here.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

Mentioned in many other previous blog posts, this is my favorite toning/cleansing water. It's extremely lightweight and dries quickly. I love to use it to refresh my makeup throughout the day. It can be purchased here.

Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream
The newest addition to my skincare routine, this eye cream was in my mom's routine for the longest time. Eye creams tend to be sort of heavy and uncomfortable, but this eye cream isn't. It's creamy and lightweight and it doesn't make my makeup budge throughout the day. I'm hoping that by using this product, I will have few to no wrinkles when I age. This cream can be bought here.

That's my full skincare routine as of right now! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I would love to hear what your skincare routines are!

Are You Worn?

In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said, "Come to Me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Sometimes there are so many hard things going on in our lives that we forget about God. When you are tired or worn and you don't have the strength to go on anymore, go to Jesus. He will restore you and build you up and He will teach you how to walk with Him.

Tenth Avenue North's new song "Worn" talks about being to weak to go on anymore. It's an amazing song with an even better message.

I’m tired I’m worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I’ve made mistakes
I’ve let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world

And I know that you can give me rest

So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win

Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn

I know I need to lift my eyes up

But I'm too weak
Life just won’t let up

And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win

Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn

My prayers are wearing thin

Yeah, I’m worn
Even before the day begins
Yeah, I’m worn
I’ve lost my will to fight
I’m worn
So, heaven come and flood my eyes

Let me see redemption win

Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause all that’s dead inside will be reborn

Though I’m worn

Yeah I’m worn
