Mini Drugstore Haul + Review!

Hi guys, I'm back with a small drugstore haul! I've been wanting to try these products for a while and whilst I was at Target, I decided to pick them up. Let me know in the comments section if you've tried these products and if so, what your thoughts were! Enjoy!

Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Coral Crush

I'm not sure if this is a part of the Maybelline Vivid's collection, but I heard a lot of good things about this lipstick and I couldn't agree more! The pigmentation is lovely and it smells like vanilla, which is a bonus! It has hints of red in it, which looks nice against my skin tone. Overall, this lipstick is very smooth and creamy with a sheen-y finish to it. I love this lipstick and I think it's perfect for Spring and Summer!

Maybelline Color Whisper balm in Rose of Attraction

Because of my vast amount of red lip products, I've been wanting a natural "my lips but better" lip color. I own another Color Whisper balm and I love the formula, so I thought I would try another one. This shade could not be any more perfect for my lip color! It has a plum tone to it and I think it will be refreshing to wear a color that's not red this Summer!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Kajal in Black

While I'm not a huge fan of black eyeliner, I picked this one up today because I've heard that it's comparable to Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil. When people talk about drugstore dupes, they usually aren't completely similar, but I have to agree with this eyeliner. The creamy and smooth formula is extremely blendable and very much the same with the UD ones. The packaging is pretty much the same as is the kohl liner. I noticed a dramatic difference when I lined my tightline with this liner as you can see above. This liner is very affordable at $4.99 compared to UD's $19.00. I would say that these liners are almost exactly alike, so if you're thinking of buying the UD liners, head over to Target or CVS and pick the Rimmel ones up instead.

To Cut or Not To Cut?

My hair has grown quite a bit in the last year or so and though I appreciate the flexibility and versatility of the length, I am currently loving the shoulder length haircuts that are so popular for Spring. Here are some of my favorite cuts:

Spring Skater Skirts!

Spring Skater Skirts

Left-Right: Fashion Union    -    Topshop    -   Own The Runway    -   Topshop    -   Oxygen Boutique

One of my favorite trends for spring is Skater Skirts. I find that because I have an hourglass body type, Skater Skirts cinch my waist and easily cover my hips. These are some cute and affordable options for Spring! My favorite way to style theses skirts is to tuck in a simple, loose fitting t-shirt and pair the outfit with neutral flats or wedges. Adding a fun clutch and a bright lip pulls the outfit together!

Looking Pretty After Gym!

For people like me, PE class is like torture. I'm not fond of sweating or being physically active, so PE is like all of my least favorite things rolled into one period! After class is done you are left looking sweaty, stinky, tomato-faced, and with oily hair (the worst things ever). Having a short amount of time to shower, change, and beautify yourself while managing to get to class on time is also another trial. Here are some tips and tricks to looking your best after PE!

Drink water! (30 seconds)
Keeping your body hydrated after a vigorous workout is my number 1 tip. Producing sweat makes your body lose water while it tries to keep you cool, so you need to be drinking water. A cute water bottle is always helpful! Water is not only the most hydrating and healthy drink, but it's a good way to trick your body into feeling full so that you don't down unhealthy snacks post-workout.
Take a quick shower (3 minutes)
After you run and sweat in PE, you absolutely need to take a shower. PE makes your hair and body feel gross and oily. Using a clarifying shampoo and a hydrating conditioner are good for dirty hair! Also make sure to wash your body well with a sweet smelling shower gel.
Wash your face using a gentle cleanser (1 minute)
If you don't have time to do anything else, this would be the best thing to do after PE. Your pores and glands are mass producing oil on your face and body, which can often lead to bacteria and acne. You can use a gentle cleanser to remove any traces of dirt or bacteria that can clog your pores later on. The cool water will also reduce any "tomato-face", which is a very unattractive look!
Moisturize (30 seconds)
After you wash your face, you have to make sure that you're using a lightweight moisturizer. Face washes typically strip the skin of some of its natural hydration, so putting on a nice moisturizer will help the skin to be clean and supple.
Apply a Tinted Moisturizer or BB Cream (1 minute)
I wouldn't recommend using a foundation after you exercise because the thickness can tend to clog your clean pores. A lightweight sheer tint of color will help to even out any blotchiness or blemishes. Apply the liquid using your fingers for the most quick and natural look. If needed, you can always spot apply concealer if you need any extra coverage. Make sure to add a light dusting of translucent powder!
Pop on a sheer bright lip color (1 minute)
Nowadays, most makeup brands include lip butters and tinted lip balms into their collections. Since red is my favorite lip color, I tend to use the Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon because it really brightens up my face and makes me look healthy. Apply a sheer wash of the color to your lips to add a fun touch to your "no makeup makeup look".

Add a fun cheek color (1 minute)
Using the lip color from before, apply that to the apples of your cheeks for a natural, flushed look. Because you will be using a lip balm or lip butter, it will give your cheeks a healthy glowing look rather than using a powder blush. You could also use a lip and cheek convertible product.
Pull your hair into a side braid (2 minutes)
Because there is no time to blow dry or style your hair, tying it into a side braid is chic and effortless. It adds a sort of "girl next door" look especially if you pull a few strands out. The look is beachy and fun! After your hair is air dried, you can undo the braid and be left with piecy waves!

So there you have it! Those are my tips and tricks for looking pretty after PE in 10 minutes! Let me know in the comments section what some of your tips are!

Lately, I haven't had a clue of what to post on this little blog. I've been researching and researching ideas but I just can't seem to find any. With not a lot of time for daily outfit and makeup posts, I've been running on empty. I really want to be posting quality writing and images and I think that's something I need to work on.

What are some of your favorite types of posts? What do you guys like to read about? Please let me know in the comments section about any ideas for me!

Random Favorites #2

1. Guerlain Meteorites in #1 Teint Rose. Because of the outrageous price, I was nervous about handing over my hard earned cash in Sephora, but I'm so happy I did! The Meteorites are mattifying but they add an amazing glow to my skin when I set my foundation! A good $60.00 well spent.

2. Manchester Orchestra. I just love Andy Hull's unique voice and the amazing guitar licks in their songs. My favorite at the moment is "Where Have You Been?"

3. IFB also known as International Fashion Bloggers. I joined this site to connect with other fashion bloggers around the world and I must say that it is an amazing website! I've been introduced to so many kind and stylish bloggers who are so welcoming!

4. MAC's lipstick in MAC Red. Such an iconic and classic color, which I did a review on here!

5. Julie's blog "Peace Of Style". Julie is such a stylish and sweet lady who puts amazing outfits together! I love how she incorporates so many pastels into her wardrobe!

6. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation. My first favorite foundation that is so light and airy on the skin.

7. Chanel Joues Contraste blush in Rose Petale. Such a gorgeous coral color which is perfect for Spring and Summer!

Holy Grail Red Lip Products + Swatches!

Here are 5 of my favorite products to achieve that effortless and classic red lip! They will be in order of pigmentation from sheer to opaque. Enjoy!

Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me
If you love the look of red lips but are too afraid to wear a full lipstick, then this balm is perfect for you! The sheer wash of red is gorgeous and the cherry smell and taste is lovely! I bought this from Target for $5.00.

Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon
One of my newest favorites, this lip butter is from Revlon's Spring collection. It is limited edition so I recommend that you buy at least 5 of these because they run out very quickly! I love this lip butter because it's incredibly moisturizing with a creamy finish. It smells great and it's an overall great product from Revlon! $7.99 is a bargain for this great middleground between a balm and a lipstick!

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Mightiest Maraschino
I've raved and ranted about this gorgeous lip stain and it's still one of my favorites! I bought this Chubby Stick at Sephora for $16 which is still an amazing price! The red is bold and the pink undertone is really popular for Spring!

Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain in Rouge #9
I bought this YSL Stain from Sephora on my trip to Washington DC and I am still in love with it! The formulation is different from anything I've ever used. I love how it goes on incredibly watery and stains my lips to last all day! The finish is glossy, which is incredibly considering its 16 hour staying power! I bought this little gem at Nordstrom for $38.00. It is quite expensive for a lip stain, but I love it so much!

MAC Satin Lipstick in MAC Red
Nearly as iconic as MAC's Russian Red, this lipstick is the boldest of all. I love MAC's lipsticks, especially the ones with a Satin finish, which is the most flattering. It dries nearly matte, but it's not drying on my lips. I love how it's a blue toned red, which doesn't emphasize any redness on my cheeks and also makes my teeth look whiter! This gorgeous lipstick is one of MAC's permanent lipsticks, so don't fret because you can get your hands on it right now for $35.00!

Well there you have it, my favorite red lip colors! I hope you all enjoyed this post! Let me know if you want me to do another favorites post on different products. I would also like to know what some of your favorite red lip colors are as well!

Real Beauty

This morning, I watched a Dove commercial about women and their self-image. I was not expecting such a powerful message to come out of that 6 minute video. Watch it for yourself:

As a woman and a lover of all things beauty and fashion, I've had my fair share of self esteem issues. I'm sure that all girls struggle with that.

Am I pretty enough?
Skinny enough?
Athletic?
Blonde?
Smart?
Funny?
Do I have freckles?
I can't wear glasses
No braces for me
Oh gosh, another pimple
Why can't I have blue eyes?
My hair isn't curly enough
My boobs are too small
Why don't I have a gap between my thighs?
My face is too round
I'm fat
Ugly
Disgraceful

These thoughts occur in the minds of women all over the world, every single day. We all struggle with what we look like and how we feel. I was so touched by this video and how real and raw it was. Those women didn't think they were beautiful at all. They critiqued and criticized every part of their body and face, but no one else did. As soon as they saw the portrait described by another person, you could see the sparkle in those women's eyes.
We need to stop judging ourselves. In Psalm 139:14 it says, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!" It's true that we are made in the image of God as His beautiful daughters. Our physical appearance do not matter as much as our insides.

The next time you are tempted to criticize yourself, just watch this video. Think about how you are as a person and then you can say whether that part of you is beautiful or not. You are gorgeous. You are perfect. You are His.

Dealing With Tragedy

As the day comes to an end, most of us around the world have heard about the tragedy in Boston, Massachusetts that occurred today. It's extremely hard to try and grasp the amount of pain and suffering that's in our world. Watching CNN and the news just breaks my heart every day when I see the different stories of tragedy and hurt in people's lives.

Experiencing stories of suffering makes it easy to blame God. Thinking "Where is God?" and "Why does He let bad things happen to good people if He's a loving God?" Let me just say that I don't have all the answers. I don't really have any answers when it comes to pain and sorrow. What I can say is that I know my Jesus and I know that He works everything out to benefit those who love Him (Romans 8:28). I'm not trying to shove scripture down your throats, but I want you all to know that it's not okay to blame God for the bad things that happen. Because we are mere human beings, we will never understand His thoughts or His reasons, but we can talk to Him and share with Him our concerns and feelings. Only God knows the big picture. Right now, we only see what our situations and our problems are at the moment, but God sees it all. He knows why tragedies like Sandy Hook and the Boston Marathon happen, and He often uses those tragedies to change lives for the better. Right now, it seems horrible and devastating. It's always awful when innocent lives are lost. It probably makes you want to catch the monsters who bomb and kill and threaten to do even worse.

Let me just say that it's not God's fault. He loves His kids, even those who don't love Him back. The devil is the one who causes tragedies such as the one that happened today. He came to Earth to "Steal, kill, and destroy," while Jesus came so that we might have life in abundance and life in the full (John 10:10). Only Jesus can change the awful situations of today and make them situations to positively impact lives all over the world.

This may have been an unorganized and sort of chaotic post, but I just wanted to share my heart at the moment. We all live in a world of tragedy and we need to stick together to make the pain and the hurt things to positively impact our lives. Trust in Jesus right now. Trust that He knows the big picture and have faith in Him. Right now, that's all we can do.

If any of you need prayer for anything or just need to talk, I'm here for all of you! You can email me at thisisnoelle.blog@gmail.com with any questions, comments, or prayer requests.

Thanks To You

This post was inspired by Independent Fashion Blogger's project #90, which you can read here.

To all of my beautiful readers, I wanted to say thank you for everything that you all have done for me. I know that my blog is still a baby and that it is no where near where I want it to be, but I wanted to express my sheer gratitude. I created this blog simply to express who I am and to be able to share the things that are near and dear to my heart. You all have given me the opportunity to truly be myself. Thank you all for being beautiful and wonderful and for being loyal readers. I love you guys!
xoxo, Noelle

The Shopaholic TAG

1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
Yes but for certain things. I don't shop a lot for shoes or hair products but I love shopping for makeup, handbags, and clothes

2. How would you classify your style?
I would say that my style is feminine and classic with a hint of girly

3. What store(s) can you not leave without buying at least one thing?
I would probably have to say Target or Sephora. I always go to Sephora with certain products in mind and Target has everything, so it's easy to go crazy.

4. Where do you find the best deals?
I find the best deals at Nordstrom Rack. They have all of the same items as the regular Nordstrom but with 25-40% discounts. They stock clothes, accessories, makeup, handbags, and shoes!

5. What designer are you willing to splurge for?
I really love Rebecca Minkoff and her purses!

6. Do you have a go-to shopping outfit?
I tend to wear simple dresses when I go shopping because they are easy to put on and take off when I'm trying on clothes.

7. What is your guilty pleasure (not including makeup)?
I love handbags! I feel like if you invest in a good handbag, you can use it everyday with every outfit. It's better to buy a bag than something like a skirt because you can't wear that skirt everyday, but you can use the handbag everyday.

8. What is one staple piece that you can't live without?
I love to wear jeans, so I think I would go crazy without them. I also use thin, black camisoles under every top, so it would also be hard to live without those.

9. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
I love high waisted skirts! I find that they are flattering on all body types.

10. What trend did you love that passed away too quickly?
I really loved baby doll dresses! A trend that I absolutely hate is high-low skirts and dresses. I think they are so tacky and unflattering.

11. Who is your fashion icon?
For my fashion icon, it's a tie between Olivia Palermo and Victoria Beckham. I love Olivia's classic-chic style and Victoria's sultry and modern outfits.

I tag all of you to do this TAG!
