Brush Cleaning 101

Let's take a quick poll: How many of you clean your makeup brushes at least once a month? (Slowly pans internet audience) Not many of you? Me either. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a complete slacker when it comes to cleaning my brushes. Although it's incredibly gross to think about the millions of bacteria growing between the bristles (eww), I just can't often be bothered to think about cleaning that which I put on my face every day. Brush cleaning, although time consuming and extremely tedious, is 100% necessary in maintaining a sanitary and hygienic beauty routine.

What You Need:
  • Dirty makeup brushes
  • Natural dish soap

 How To:

Step 1- Gather all of your dirty makeup brushes along with a natural dish soap and a towel (optional)
Step 2- Turn on your sink faucet and pour a quarter size amount of soap into the palm of your hand
Step 3- Rub the dirty brushes (individually) into the water and soap mixture

YUCK!

(You will notice the color of the soap changing into whatever color the makeup product being applied with that certain brush is)

Step 4- Rinse the soap off of the brush and repeat with each dirty brush you plan on washing
Step 5- Lay the clean brushes out to dry (on a towel preferably) overnight

I hope this "How To" has made the brush cleaning process easier and more appealing to all of you. As a side note, I hope you've noticed that most of the brushes here are from the drugstore! Although I have invested in a few face brushes (like my holy grail Sephora Mineral Powder brush), I actually prefer Target's Up & Up and ELF makeup brushes to most high end ones. I find that the $2 ELF Contour brush works even better than my MAC 217! I hope you all enjoyed this post and I would love to hear what some of your favorite brushes are!

Let's Catch Up

Hey guys, it's been around two weeks since my last post which probably sounds absolutely crazy to some of you. I recently went back to school, which disrupted any chance of me blogging daily or even weekly. I know that I said I wanted to do my daily beauty posts but realistically, I just can't right now. Staying up until 2 am because of practices and homework does not make it easy to blog. I'm not saying that my blog isn't important to me, because it actually is one of my top priorities! I'm just sharing with all of you that my posts will pop up when I have the extra time and when I'm really stoked about writing. I've found that throughout the past couple of months, my blog has become sort of a chore (which is something I never want it to be!). This blog is one of my greatest accomplishments and I really want each post to be thoughtful and creative, not just whipped out of my butt so that I can have something published every day. This Is Noelle is my blog that I have decided to write on only when I really feel like it. I want my content to be unique and interesting, so when I write a post, I hope it will be just that. I really appreciate and love each and every one of you who thoughtfully take the time out of your busy schedules to read this little piece of myself on the internet. It means the world to me and I hope that you all understand where I'm coming from.

Love,
Noelle
By the way: here's my recent haircut!

This Week's Most Loved #1

Hi guys! I'm back today with some of my favorite bits and products from the past week. I hope you enjoy!

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit

This exfoliator is absolutely amazing! Not only does it smell delicious, but it's really cleared up my skin in the past week. It's not too harsh or abrasive, which makes it safe to use daily. I also love that it's pink, so that it really stands out in the shower! After using this product, my skin feels really soft and smooth, which is lovely! I highly recommend this to anyone with oily or acne prone skin.

Sei Bella Age Defying Serum

It may seem weird that I'm using age defying products in my young age, but it's never to early to start! Skincare is something that people of any age can be proactive about. I love thinking about what my skin will look like in my 50s, 60s, and 70s since I try to take good care of it now. This serum from Melaleuca is incredible! I use it after I cleanse and exfoliate, but before I moisturize. It feels weightless on the skin, yet it adds a lovely layer of moisture. I attribute my skin clearing up recently to this serum. It's amazing and I will continue to use it daily!

Revlon Wild Watermelon Lip Butter

Some of you who've continuously read my blog may know that this is my all time favorite red lip product. We all know that Revlon's lip butters are amazing, but this one takes the cake. It's a gorgeous cherry red with pink undertones that looks lovely on all skin tones. The staying power isn't amazing, as I would expect from a lip butter (tinted lip balm), but that doesn't stop me from loving it! It glides on effortlessly and smoothly without all of the chunky glitter that comes in some of the other lip butters. If I could recommend only one red lip color to anyone, it would be this lip butter!

Soap & Glory Plum Jam Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick

Another favorite lip product, this one from Soap & Glory smells absolutely delicious! It's a little bit tacky feeling on the lips, but it's not uncomfortable. The color is a beautiful sheer plum and it smells and tastes like vanilla. I've used nearly all of the balm, so I'm definitely going to repurchase it!

PINK Sweet & Flirty Body Mist

Although I'm not a fan of Victoria's Secret, I do love their body mists and perfumes. They always smell amazing and the array of sprays is lovely! This body mist is incredibly light and fresh to wear for school! I love the size of the bottle, which is perfect for throwing in my school bag before I leave the house. There are 3-4 more scents in their body mist line and they all smell amazing!

Real Techniques Essential Foundation Brush

This has got to be the most excited I've ever been about a makeup brush. I've looked all over the place in Hawaii for Samantha Chapman's Real Techniques brushes, so when I found out that they were at Walmart, I nearly passed out. Sam's brush line grew incredibly popular after she debuted them on Pixiwoo, her YouTube channel with her sister Nic. I plan on buying all of the brushes in the Real Techinques line, but I must say that this foundation brush is amazing! It's really soft and doesn't leave streaks on my face. I also love the size of the bristles and the fact that it's not too big for my face.

What are some of your favorite products from the past week? Thanks for reading!
