Butter London Lippy Review + Swatches

Butter London is a brand known for their luxury nail polishes with gorgeous colors and a smooth formulation. Although I've heard many great things about their polishes, I hadn't heard much about their Lippys until my dad brought me back one from his trip to Ireland. On the Butter London website, there are a total of 25 liquid lipstick formulas ranging from sheer glosses to black liquids for a price tag of $20. The Butter London Lippy in the shade Snog is a blue toned hot pink shade. The doe foot applicator makes applying the liquid quite easy and the liquid is quite opaque. Although I'm a fan of the color range, I don't like the product itself. The liquid lipstick is extremely sticky and has a potent smell of cucumbers. Even after removing the lip color, the texture is still stuck on the lips, making it impossible for anyone to want to snog you (get it??). The price tag is also a bit expensive for a not-so-great product. Despite the great color selection and the brand's spectacular track record, I do not think their liquid lippys are worth the price. I highly recommend the YSL Glossy Stains or the Hourglass Opaque Rouges for a similar product.

Have you tried the Butter London Lippys?

  1. Aww what a shame! The colour looked really nice in your swatch! But I'll definitely be passing on this cause I hate sticky lip products. Maybe I'll have to save up for the YSL Glossy Stains that everyone's been raving about! Have you tried them before? x

  2. Boo stickiness...this is the main reason I've stayed a lipstick rather than a lip gloss girl. However I have recently been curious to try out the Hourglass products so I'm glad to hear you would recommend those!

    1. I'm not really a lip gloss girl either! I'm trying to look for a non gloopy one :) The new YSL glosses look so pretty!

  3. It's too bad the product itself isn't that great, because the packaging and the typography on it is gorgeous. I guess Butter London should just stick to nail polishes, huh.

By the way - these photos are stunning! x
