As my Texas arrival date approaches, I'm stocking up on as many hot weather pieces as possible. Rompers are my main style staple for the Texas heat as they're both dressy and breezy. This mint floral romper was a steal from Urban Outfitters and I'll probably wear it on my first day of classes. I love how airy and delicate the fabric is without appearing too girly. I paired the romper with my everyday Saturday bag (which now weighs a good eight pounds) and nude strappy flats.

My favorite types of football games end with a hail mary (unless the losing team is Baylor) and one that I'll never forget was the 2014 showdown between Arizona State University and University of Southern California. It was Saturday October 4, 2014 when Mike Bercovici led the Sun Devils to a 38-34 victory over the Trojans on USC's home turf. ASU's win over No. 16 USC was their first victory at the Coliseum since 1999. QB Bercovici finished the night with a 510-yard five TD performance, including the hail mary that shocked the CFB world. With 23 seconds left ASU got the ball back on their own 28 yard line. Bercovici launched the ball 46-yards downfield where it landed in wide receiver Jaelen Strong's hands.

I first heard about the Pixi Glow Tonic when I started watching beauty videos on YouTube five years ago. Glow Tonic is an exfoliating toner that contains Glycolic acid, Aloe Vera and red Ginseng. After years of researching the product, I finally picked it up at my local Target and was immediately blown away by its effectiveness. Once I started using the toner, my skin cleared up and I no longer had blemishes. I applied the tonic after cleansing my face and before moisturizing and my skin drank up every drop! I recently ran out of liquid tonic and after only three days without it, my face has already started to break out. I headed back to Target to look for my beloved glow-giver and discovered the Glow Tonic To-Go pre-soaked exfoliating pads. These pads are perfect for everyday use and traveling because they contain the perfect amount of product. Each tub has 60 pads, which should last one month with day and night use. If you struggle with redness or blemishes, pick up the tonic today!

Jackets and jeans are my style weaknesses, so a classic denim jacket is a must-have for my wardrobe. I've owned a couple of these pieces over the years but none have fit me perfectly. While browsing the Levi's website, I fell in love with their Authentic Trucker Jacket because it comes in nine different shades. The two I am most interested in are Traveling Road (left) and Light Bliss Embroidered (right). These jackets are the perfect mid rinse and can be paired with both dark and light denim for a modern look. I love how they hit at the waist and don't swallow the model whole. I'm hoping to pick one of them up for the upcoming fall season!

I don't usually mention politics on This Is Noelle, but today's post is a topic about which I feel extremely passionate. I never understood or enjoyed politics even as my classmates gushed over the fact that a local man might win the presidential election. The reason behind my opposition was because I didn't know what I truly believed in. I was a middle class kid raised by two loving parents, so powerful social issues never affected me on a personal level. It wasn't until I learned about senator Bernie Sanders did I discover and grasp onto my own beliefs. I first heard about the Vermont senator- a 70-something political figure who looked like a modern Dumbledore and sounded like characters on "The Sopranos"- while browsing the Tumblr interwebs (I know, not the most accurate place to learn about politics) early last year. He believed in social and financial equality for despite gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability and race; a woman's right to choose; reforming Wall St; free public college tuition; getting big money out of politics; combating climate change; raising minimum wage; peace over war; and recognition of both native Americans and native Hawaiians. After researching these issues, I grew passionate about supporting the senator in his fight. Throughout 30 years of political leadership, Bernie Sanders has never wavered on any issue. He has consistently fought for the people from the beginning, even when his stances weren't popular. He was arrested during his time as a civil rights activist (for which he's continued to work today) and was shunned after advocating marriage equality. I've never known anyone as dedicated to and passionate about progressive issues as Mr. Sanders (or as I lovingly call him- uncle Bernie). It's hard to stand up to the majority when you're standing alone, but Bernie has been doing that from the beginning. His fight to bring progressive leadership to the White House has always been about the people and for the people. After a long and unwavering journey, Bernie was unable to secure the Democratic presidential nomination. He was cheated, mocked, underestimated and misunderstood throughout the entire campaign trail, but he never backed down. Today, Hillary Clinton became the Democratic nominee. The news broke my heart for the millions of suppressed voters, the Sanders staff, the misinformed American public and especially for Jane and Bernie. This once-in-a-lifetime candidate will remain forever in my heart as I look toward one day becoming a progressive political leader. Even though I initially didn't understand the difference between conservatives and liberals, independents and the Green Party, I am now more informed than ever before. Mr. Sanders taught me how to think for myself, how to stand up to my greatest giants and to fight for what I believe in, even if the world is against me. Thank you Bernie for fighting for my rights, for fighting for equality and the hope that one day love and acceptance with prevail over hate. Thank you for dedicating your life to the betterment of this nation. Thank you for everything.

While I love sporting elaborate smokey eyes on a daily basis, sometimes I like to simplify my makeup routine. For this look I applied my base makeup as I normally would and swept The Body Shop Honey Bronzer across my lids for definition. I then took the dark gray shade from the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Palette and added it to the outer corners of my eyes. I love the mixture of matte brown and gray because they create a more lived-in smokey look. I applied lashings of the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara and my eyes were complete! The matte shadows blend easily and are wearable enough for the daytime!

Growing up, the only football positions I was familiar with were the quarterback and the linebacker and both were instilled in my memory through my mom. She used to talk about Joe Montana like he was her close friend and stated that if she could play any position it would be linebacker so she could shove players down. As a young child with (some) anger management issues, I immediately agreed with her and thus my dream of becoming a linebacker was born and evolved with time. Linebackers are some of the most important players on the defense. They are not only the defensive playmakers, but also talented hybrids on the field due to their difficult and diverse responsibilities. Their jobs are to put pressure on the QB; defend the tight ends and backs; keep man-to-man coverage with receivers; and defend passes.
There are three types of linebackers: strong side, middle and weak side. The strong side linebacker performs in a 4-3 defense as a run and pass coverage backer. He lines up on the strong side of the defensive formation, close in proximity to both the run and pass coverage if necessary. Strong side linebackers initially read the tight end to see what the offensive play is. A quick example of a strong side linebacker is Julius Campbell, who was featured in the movie "Remember the Titans".
The middle linebacker is the QB of the defense as the central figure of the group. He usually leads the defense in tackles and is locked up with the running back or tight end. Because he lines up 5 yards back, he can easily move left or right to stop the run. The middle linebacker reads the offensive linemen to see what the play will be. He is a strong player with intense athleticism. The weak side linebacker is just as focused on stopping the run as his fellow LBs, but often transitions to covering receivers. His responsibility is to force outside runs inward and to cover passes. He reads the offensive linemen as well as the backfield. The weak side linebacker is the most quick and agile of the bunch because he usually covers the most ground.
I was four years old when I heard the name Dick Butkus for the first time. You'd think that I would have learned about one of the greatest linebackers in history while watching a football game, but you would be wrong. I recognized Dick Butkus as a recurring character on my favorite show "Hang Time"- a tween comedy about a high school basketball team. In my toddler mind, Butkus was only a basketball coach on the show but in reality, he's one of the greatest athletes of our time. Butkus was a two-time All-American at Illinois and wrecked havoc as a key member with the Chicago Bears. He was named all-NFL seven times and played in the Pro Bowl eight times. Butkus retired from football after recording 1,020 tackles; 489 assists; 22 interceptions and 25 fumble recoveries. He was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on July 28, 1979.

I purchased this white blouse from Madewell last fall and have worn it non-stop since then! I love the way it looks with my new pair of distressed ankle denim from J.Crew and classic light accessories. Wearing basic colored pieces is an easy way to transition outfits from summer to fall with just an added layer or two. Look forward to seeing these jeans all over my blog in the next few months as I'm obsessed with its color and detail.

Last year I was given a Kate Spade gift card for graduation and promised myself that I would save it for something special. After a year of waiting, I decided to purchase a handbag must-have in the form of a coin purse/wallet hybrid. The Kate Spade Cedar Street Darla is the perfect mini wallet that fits all forms of cash, cards and coins without being too bulky. I've carried the same card holder for two years and was in the market for one that could also carry change. I picked the strawberry shade to add contrast to my otherwise pastel wardrobe and accessory collection. If you're looking for a mini wallet for small purses or to carry without bulk, head over to your nearest Kate Spade store now!

For lifelong basketball fans, few names stick out as "the greats": Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Tim Duncan, just to name a few. Duncan announced his retirement after 19 seasons, five NBA championships, two MVP titles and three NBA finals MVP titles. Widely regarded as the greatest power forward of all time, Duncan leaves behind a book full of San Antonio Spurs records and the hearts of basketball fans all across the world. He has made 15 All-Star appearances, 15 All-NBA teams and 15 All-Defensive teams- the most in league history. He's created a legacy with the Spurs- a team on which he's played every season. Duncan also leaves behind point guard Tony Parker and shooting guard Manu Ginobili, with whom he's dominated the court. Another record he holds is with head coach Gregg Popovich, totaling 1,001 victories together (more than any coach and player duo in NBA history). Duncan will forever be remembered for his grace both on the court and off, where he's constantly regarded as one of the most humble and down to earth athletic legends. The game will never be the same.

Last week, my friends Traci, Brandie and I decided to picnic and swim at Kailua beach. We picked up some lunch from Kalapawai Market before heading over to the beach. We swam for hours and ate our food during breaks. Unfortunately we didn't realize how strong the sun was, so we all ended up extremely sunburnt. Before leaving the beach we took pictures and were hit with a quick torrential rain storm. Our arms and legs were tomato-red so shave ice from Island Snow was a must-have before heading home.

With summer winding down and temperatures rising, I'm searching for lightweight blouses and breezy one-pieces. Urban Outfitters is one of my favorite stores to shop at because their pieces are both gorgeous and affordable. The mint green Ecote Lace-Up Blouse lends a nod to the tie blouse trend that's sweeping the fashion world. The Truly Madly Deeply Katarina Cami can be dressed up or down when paired with either jeans or a maxi skirt. It would also be the perfect coverup for a bikini! I love the Truly Madly Deeply Elisa Lettuce-Edge Tee because of its 90s-inspired color and cut. Another mint favorite is the Kimchi Blue Svetlana Ballet Cinch Mini Dress, which is a basic wardrobe must have. I could easily wear it to class with a lightweight cardigan and some strappy flats. These BDG Girlfriend High-Rise Jeans are unlike any pair I own and would be easy to sport in the fall. The pants are neither too loose nor too tight and crop at the ankle. I would style them with any of the featured blouses in this post! My favorite piece of the bunch is the Kimchi Blue Petunia Gauze Flutter-Sleeve Romper. The apricot shade and A-line cut are universally flattering, especially during the summer. I love this pink Kimchi Blue Melody Babydoll Tee because it's feminine and easy to wear. Rompers are my favorite one-pieces because they're fun to dress up and down and the Kimchi Blue Petunia Gauze Flutter-Sleeve Romper is gorgeous. The pattern reminds me of classic Cinnamon Girl pieces and it's the perfect outfit to wear to class. The navy Kimchi Blue Maisie Babydoll Blouse is a lovely work blouse that I can pair with both jeans and my favorite Old Navy pixie pant!

Last week the media announced that former Missouri athletic director Mack Rhoades would become Baylor's leader in the same position. Rhoades is a highly touted athletic director due to his success at Houston and through a tumultuous year at Mizzou. During his time at Houston, Rhoades oversaw the building of $160 million worth of new facilities, raised $100 million and hired head football coach Tom Herman, who led the Cougars to a 13-1 season in his first year. He has been praised by fellow ADs, coaches and "football experts" for his charisma and dedication to both the athletic and academic success of student athletes. Rhoades' hire means that Baylor can move forward in searching for the Bears' next football coach. Welcome to the family, Mr. Rhoades!

If I were forced to choose an outfit to wear every day for the rest of my life, this one would be it. Each piece is classic and comfortable, but can still be dressed up or down. I picked up this Free People tank from Bloomingdale's last week and have worn it everyday since. The fabric is so soft and breezy, which is perfect for the summertime (or anytime, really) and I love pairing it with both jeans and shorts. These jeans are a new purchase from J.Crew and they fit like a glove! I purchased them because of the frayed ends and light wash. I dressed up the outfit with classic black accessories including my rediscovered Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C.!
