2016 CFP Semifinals Recap
No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Washington:
While Jake Browning and his Huskies looked like a credible CFP threat throughout the season, Washington was unable to get a start on offense and Bama prevailed in the 24-7 semi. Browning was 20 of 38 for 150 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Washington's offense recorded 44 rushing yards and 150 passing while Alabama had 269 and 57 respectively. A Crimson Tide pick six gave Bama the edge over Washington's lackadaisical offensive performance. Alabama RB Bo Scarbrough was the star of the show with 19 carries for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
No. 2 Clemson vs. No. 3 Ohio State:
The better semi of the two occurred when Clemson demolished Ohio State for a 31-0 finish. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer couldn't even get a point out of his offense throughout the entire game including two missed field goals. Clemson QB Deshaun Watson recorded 23 of 36 pass attempts for 259 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. The Tigers had 205 rushing yards and 265 passing while Ohio State had 88 and 127. Buckeyes QB J.T. Barrett completed 19 of 33 for two interceptions.
Clemson will face former national champion Alabama on January 9th at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
