Russell Westbrook is the 2017 NBA MVP

Back in April I wrote this post declaring my vote for Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook as the 2017 NBA MVP. Although media and sports commentators vouched for the likes of Kawhi Leondard, James Harden, Kevin Durant, etc, Westbrook's stats and performance throughout the season proved me right as he was awarded the personal league title today. After Durant left the Thunder to play for the Golden State Warriors, many argued that Westbrook wouldn't have the skill alone to keep Oklahoma City afloat. However, he averaged 31.6 points (league high), 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists a night, breaking the NBA record with 42 triple-doubles in one season. He also made 42.5% of FG and 34.3% from the three-point line. With his stats and the perseverance to lead his team to a No. 6 seed without former star Durant, Westbrook earned the title he deserved.
