Book Club | January 2015

As the first month of the year begins, I wanted to try something new on this little blog. I've never been a huge reader and for the past few years, I've tossed all books aside for Netflix and YouTube videos. Because of that fact, one of my resolutions for 2015 is to read more and watch less. I will be having a monthly "book club" where I pick up a couple books each month and read them through 30 days. At the end of the year, I'll be discussing my favorite books I read and what made them so special.

For the first month, I decided to start off with books about my favorite subject: football. I never was a huge football fan until my sophomore year and now I'm completely obsessed. The first book I'm reading is Beating Goliath by Art Briles, head coach of Baylor football. Coach Briles is a brilliant teacher and an even better man who has suffered through extreme tragedies throughout his life. I gifted this book to my dad for Christmas, but I've been reading it throughout these past couple weeks and I can't put it down!

The next book is the 4th edition of Football for Dummies by Pro Football Hall of Famer Howie Long. Although I'm familiar with most of the rules and regulations of the game, I wanted to read this book in order to educate myself of every position, rule, and call that is involved in football. One day I hope to be an ESPN announcer or football coach (maybe?) and researching everything there is about the game I love will definitely help me in the future.
